Generación del Milenio dictan las nuevas reglas del entorno de trabajo

Los Millennials nacieron en la prosperidad económica y rodeados por la tecnología. La generación del Milenio, o la Generación Y, se compone de personas nacidas entre 1980 y mediados de 1990, que crecieron rodeados de tecnología. Esta generación nació en una época de grandes avances tecnológicos, la prosperidad económica y los altos niveles de urbanización, que influyó fuertemente en sus estilos de vida y comportamientos en el lugar de trabajo. Son ellos los que van a cambiar el mundo.

De acuerdo con la consultoría Booz Allen actualmente la generación del milenio forma el grupo de edad más significativo en el mercado laboral de América del Norte y, en general, tienen un poder de compra de US $2.45 billones de dólares. En Brasil, la generación será el 44% de la población económicamente activa del país este año, la cual mueve R $268 millones. Esto hace que sean los empleados más importantes de una empresa.

La concepción del modelo de trabajo de los Millenials es diferente

Los jóvenes que entraron en el mercado de trabajo en la última década tienen diferentes expectativas de las generaciones anteriores. Estos requieren una mayor diversidad de desafíos con diferentes retornos, muy distintos de la estabilidad y plan de carrera que sus padres esperaban.

Gracias a la tecnología, estos jóvenes están acostumbrados a tener una vida más globalizada, manteniendo los lazos sociales y profesionales alrededor del mundo con la ayuda de las redes sociales y dispositivos móviles. La colaboración es una de las palabras-claves para el medio ambiente de trabajo donde la creación y producción de un material se lleva a cabo de una manera integrada, con diversas herramientas de comunicación en un entorno extremadamente dinámico.

De acuerdo con la encuesta Future of Work, realizada por ADP, los Millennials creen que la libertad dada por las empresas aún no es suficiente, y que las organizaciones todavía tienen que adaptarse. Las empresas con menos de 20 años son más propensos a adaptarse a dar más libertad a las personas, sobre todo porque fueron construidas en los sistemas de TI/conectividad que permiten una mayor coordinación entre la distancia y el tiempo. Empresas como éstas están ganando los profesionales del futuro.

Cómo el mercado está reaccionando?

Para adaptarse a este nuevo público, las empresas están adoptando una forma más dinámica de trabajo. A través de la tecnología, podemos hacer frente a muchas de las nuevas exigencias de la generación del milenio: la movilidad, la educación, la integración, el intercambio de información, entre otros.

Ya RRHH está respondiendo a estas demandas mediante la adopción de nuevos software para ayudar a que el entorno este más conectado, poniéndolos a disposición de los administradores y empleados, con la ventaja adicional de aumentar la productividad. Esta nueva forma de hacer las cosas en base a horarios flexibles y lugares de trabajo proporcionadas por las últimas tecnologías como las aplicaciones móviles, computación en la nube, virtualización y redes sociales.

Y sin embargo, de acuerdo con Future of Work, más de 2/3 de los empleados en América Latina creen que las organizaciones ya están utilizando la tecnología para medir e impactar el bienestar de sus empleados. La mayoría de los encuestados esperan ser personalmente afectado por este cambio y están muy emocionados por ello, especialmente la generación del Milenio.

Así que ya hay muchas soluciones que pueden ayudar al departamento de RRHH de una empresa. Centrarse en los colaboradores, sus deseos, la satisfacción y la productividad serán cruciales para que las empresas del futuro estén alineadas con los deseos de la generación del Milenio y los que vendrán.
